Happy New Year!

happy new year!

thanks
thanks to all my supporters and clients in 2009 that made my first full year of wedding photography a very memorable one but above all, thanks for allowing me to share my passion for photography in your lives.

personal thoughts
i dont think ive mentioned this before, but i am secretly out there to solve this mystery in Newsong’s When God Made You: “Its always been a mystery to me, How two hearts can come together, And love can last forever.” have i gotten any closer? nope haha. but in sharing in your lives, i have gotten a glimpse of this mystery in preparation to solve it. my ultimate wish someday is that i can experience that for myself. i see this as the highest blessing god can bestow on humans (third to salvation and life that is…).

i personally am not a big fan of the holidays. other than jesus’s birth (which is significant!) that warrants praise and the praise due is given(!), the holidays has continually reminded me of heartbreaks. those pains never leave fully and i seem to be prone to experiencing them around this time. this not just for me, but for many others too. but as i will mention below, god has a plan and it will be fulfilled.

2010
whats next for 2010? i still got to plow through school but beyond that i do not know. nothing is life is ever certain. the only certainty is that god has a plan and that his plan will be fulfilled. i need to come to that point where i have faith and can rest in that fact.

so whats my 2010 resolve? i was reading the bible yesterday while piecing together my airplane model (thank god finally for the time to do that haha) and came across this familiar verse in philippians 2:14-16:

Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

i tend to grumble alot and if you are facebook friends with me, i have grumbled alot at school! but grumbling brings no glory to god and if thats my sole purpose here on earth, then ive failed for 2009! but by the grace of god i am still living so that means another day to try. it will be a hard resolve to uphold no doubt. i must constantly check myself.

sweet 2010, i am not ready yet, but come as you may and ill take you day by day. hey that sort of rhymes =)

Jennifer + Galen | SANTA CRUZ ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY | Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

i hope everyones having good holidays so far. mine has been fun overall and very relaxing. sometimes too relaxed and i forget to post!!

ive known jennifer for something like 14 years now ever since i joined my first church in 1995. she has a twin sister who was married 3 years ago (wow time passes fast. i remember i was hiding in the bushes taking pics of their engagement). im always happy to see friends find their significant other =).

i think one of the most frequent questions people ask me is if shooting a friend’s event is nerve racking or not. i can see how it would be nerve racking since if you “mess up” youll be hated for life but its relaxing to me because i already know them and can jump right into the shoot with full comfort and unleash that photography goodness.

i could never raise my hands on a roller coaster…especially with a camera in hand. +1 for galen

T is for Tiltshift. haha

Bekki + Cyrus | SAN FRANCISCO ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY | Mission Murals | Presidio | California College of the Arts | Abandoned Greyhound Maintenance Depot

bekki and cyrus are that fun loving couple that i love to shoot. super chill, super laid back! up to do anything and go anywhere. makes for some good shots. but i sometimes wish we had flying cars or something so when driving to places we dont have to waste time go through the mess of traffic but alas thats life.

we got a chance to shoot behind my school too! my school used to be the greyhound maintenance center and the bus parking and washing station is still out back and badly run down. there was even a resident homeless dude who kicked us out of the place too hahah. good thing i already got my shots.

  1. Lynn-Kai, you da man! The pictures are fantastic and we had so much fun that day. I still laugh about us all being chased out by the homeless man.

  2. beautiful engagement session. Very nice moments caught!

Tiff + Tim Wedding | SAN FRANCISCO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | Omni Hotel | Chapel of Our Lady Presidio

im still here, havent died from school hehe.

i got to hand it to tiff and tim for being patient with their photos as school has boggled me down! one reason why i like weddings is the sermons i get to hear by the officiant, in this case, tiff and tims pastor. i learn alot from what it means to be a biblical husband and wife from these times. i think tiff and tims pastor gave the best talk so far in a wedding ive shot! i know tiff and tim will be a great example of that type of couple.

tiff and tims wedding was a lovely one to shoot, full of good friends and family and fun times. it was quick and to the point. very rarely do i end a shoot at 5PM!

Susan + Bert | SAN FRANCISCO ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY | Stanford University

mmm im trying to get these events posted as fast as i can. school has eased off. i think when i freaked out in september, that was just a temporary things. i cant say i totally love school but im just used to it now.

there hasnt been many times (if ever) i get to shoot down at the embarcadero on a good day so this was a welcomed opportunity and thanks to susan and bert for this op! i never really realized how sf is so city like (dangerous, crowded, noisy) until recently after spending 5 years in davis. maybe its because im older now and understand more things. !

you think black and white enhances the seriousness? i think so. i like it. =)
