im sure ill get better at this and maybe even grad school at CCA will teach me how to revolutionize albums. i like ‘em clean and simple and heres my first self designed album!

anyways i digress…charlene and brian’s slideshow…i get all emo when i do slideshows. the same pics posted by themselves without music are suddenly transformed when put to music. amazing. they chose the music and what a great choice. thank God for music! i’ll be doing another different type of slideshow with their wedding as a showcase as soon as I get some time so stay tuned.

I know, its belated now technically but I just want to wish you guys and gals a Merry Christmas!

It’s has been an awesome beginning year (not even a year yet!) for me but I’ll save the “year” talk for my New Year’s post!

Let’s not forget the reason for this season (yes corny line). Even though Jesus was probably not born on the 25th of the 12th month, celebration for his birth is always necessary since he gave his life to save us when we were in a state not wanting to be saved. Plus we were created for his Glory alone!

If you know the Lord personally, hurray(!), let’s celebrate and praise and worship Him for who he is! If not, I hope and pray that you don’t live your life without purpose when all else in the world falls away. Life is too short so live it up…but live it up with the Lord! It’s great.
________________________

Anyways, I leave you guys with Solomon and Kay’s slideshow too.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted a slideshow huh? Thing is these things take time to make and time is always a factor haha. But when I am able to sit down and do one, it’s actually quite fun! For some reason pictures always look better with music.

Enjoy this one! They picked the music (well actually Ruth did) to go with it. It made me all emo.

This is going to be one BIG post just because so much has happened/is happening this week. So bear with me!

1. Scott Robert Lim’s Oakland/San Francisco Workshop Day 1.
Finally, the workshop I have been waiting for to happen for such a long time already! And I finally get to meet the dude behind it all! I am really excited about what I’ll be learning these next 2 days! Seriously excited!

I just want to take the time to acknowledge and THANK those who have supported me for this workshop and those who have invested their time and money in helping me try to get better with my photography so that I can give back to you guys nothing short of the best! If you still want to support me monetarily, I still need all the help I can get with my Spain trip. Check out these posts for more info –> Help me out!

Today was basically a meet and greet day. Scott went over his lecture on marketing in photography and getting what you want. There is much to think about! I am excited no doubt but also intimidated by the fast-paced-ness of the wedding photography field and I continue to ask myself will I be able to survive? One has to be constantly changing and actively seeking out the latest trends and styles to survive!

Not only that, personal character is very important too! I kept analyzing myself throughout his lecture and came to the conclusion that that is perhaps the greatest thing I need to work on. I need to work on being even more socialable. I’ve definitely come a long way since my high school days that’s for sure. But like photography itself, there is always room for improvement.

Stay tuned in my next posts for pictures from the workshop!

2. Canon’s ef50mm f1.2L
Guess what I have in my hands!? A Canon 50mm f1.2L! Ok fine it’s not mine but a rental. It was a last minute decision to rent it for this weekend since I’ll be shooting many portraits. It will give me enough time to test it out to see if I really want to buy the lens in the future. Actually I wanted to rent the 85mm f1.2L since that’s the lens I’m considering next but the people I get my stuff from didn’t have it. At f1.2, this thing produces insane background blur…insane.

This thing is HUMONGOUS! Like a big black hole. So big I can see the shutter magnified through the glass elements.

3. Acacia Retreat 3/29-3/30/2008
I really love hanging out with friends. I believe God put friends here on Earth for many reasons such to bring joy or to help you through the tough times. This past weekend was full of fun hanging out and enjoying each other’s company through Bible Studies, hiking, biking, eating, and fellowshiping out in nature away from our daily lives and locations!

I wasn’t in much of a picture/photojournalism mood during the retreat so I didn’t get in many good people shots since I was too busy having fun but I did try to get some cool images when I was conscious that I had my camera around my neck.

Enjoy the slideshow and the featured shots below!

I’m searching for almost every opportunity to practice using this slideshow program as much as I can to familiarize myself with it before I let myself do some weddings! Everything is practice practice practice now so I can be speedy when the real deal comes!

Anyways so here is a slideshow of my first missions trip; in Hawaii. It was a 7 week trip (and yes I am still sick of Hawaii) I’m not going to lie, we did have alot of fun but we did also do alot of hard work over there. To my supporters who supported me 2 years ago, I’m sorry I couldn’t do something like this slideshow for you guys earlier as a thank you!
You will see some Taiwan pics too because I had to leave in the middle of the missions for Taiwan because of family related matters. All in all it was a jammed packed summer.

In any case, enjoy! These were all taken with my veteran Canon Digital Rebel (named “Roberta”) and my long gone 17-40mm f4L lens (the only lens I brought with me on the trip and my first L baby) .
