Out with the old, in with the new

Told you some changes were being made! So how do you guys like it?

I haven’t felt much accomplishment at my day job and in life lately so I knew I needed a quick change and what greater way to do it than through my blog! The old blog was too drab anyways and I had itchy fingers to design something other than what I do for work. A creative mind needs constant creative fuel to run.

I pretty much suck at html and coding so I hired James to help me out a bit. He was the person that graciously helped me install WordPress last year since I didn’t know how to. This round, I designed the site and had him do the code for me and he did a wonderful job and knew what he was doing! Not to mention he was patient with all my requests! Many thanks!

Now I have a site that I truly love! You’ll find:
- new navigation grouped just above this post on the gray menu bar
- a flash based header that I made which will allow me room to put more interactive content on the site in the future like music, pics, games maybe. I will try to code it so it can randomize images later
- a couple of advertisement links under each post so that you can find me easily
- best of all I now have the space to post BIGGER PICTURES!!! I just hope my pictures are worth looking at bigger!

I still have a little bit of cleanup work to do but sooner or later I’ll get them done.

How about I test how big I can post a picture with one of my shots from yesterday’s Rho Pi Phi Formal. I got to practice for the first time in a real setting use Scott Robert‘s “Signature Reception Lighting” technique for this shoot (whether I got anywhere near to call it that is another story)! More later. Testing 1, 2, 3! BIG!

  1. dude… love it. I wish I had some PWs… actually I wish I had some radiopoppers.

  2. Lynn,
Nice new look; much more slick than the old one, I agree.
I don’t think you asked for feedback but I don’t care; a few small things that can be easily changed and might improve the site:
I can see some jpg artifacts in the images for “categories,” “links,” and “about” in the navigation; try saving them as gifs to get rid of those.
The amazon and facebook links are pretty big and really break up the flow of your posts; I’d recommend making them smaller.
Other than that it’s looking good.

  3. sam, dont worry, i really appreciate another designer’s comments (you know how it is at work, we get none of that)!!!! crazy nice site you have there too. I’m hoping to get mine up too soon but man with this lack of inspiration at times it’s hard coming up with a design.
